Mrs. Darling - Mother of the 3 children; kind and nurturing, must have believable mature acting. Sings solos in "Tender Shepherd" in first and last scenes
Mr. Darling - Strict and stern but compassionate; sings with the children in "We Will Grow Up"
Wendy - Oldest child who becomes a mother figure to the Lost Boys in Never Never Land. A significant singing role with a wide acting range conveying her complex relationship with Peter and her own feelings about growing up. Appears as a grown-up with her own child at the end of the show.
John (or Jana) - Can be cast as a male or female, the middle Darling child is practical and a bit timid. Goes with Peter to Never Never Land and participates in all scenes there. Sings Solos in several songs.
Michael (or Michelle) - Can be cast as male or female, the youngest Darling child, innocent and loves adventure. Travels with Peter to Never Never Land and participates in all scenes there. Sings Solos in several songs.
Nana - The childrens' nursemaid, who is actually a dog! She travels along with the children to Never Never Land. In this production, Nana will have spoken and sung lines as we are combining two traditional roles (Nana the dog and Liza the housemaid) into one role.
Jane - Wendy's young daughter, who appears in the very last scene in the show.
Residents of Never Never Land
Peter Pan - traditionally played by a female; spunky, sassy, confident, with playful energy of a soul who is forever a child. A clear belt voice required and strong dance/physicalization.
Curly, Nibs, Slightly, Tootles, Twins - the Lost Boys (could also be Lost Children - cast male or female) who live on the Island of Never Never Land. They all have distinct personalities, as well as speaking and singing parts.
Tiger Lilly - The lead warrior of the Island Natives, who becomes Peter Pan's ally in defeating Captain Hook. She has a mystical, sacred presence and is a fearless, friendly leader. Strong singer and dancer with stage presence.
The Fairies - As is tradition in this show, in our production, Tinker Bell will be played by a small flickering light and music for her "voice." But, in our production, we are going to introduce an ensemble of young fairies to add to the magic of Never Never Land! We will be adding scenes and music to feature the fairies. The song, "A Distant Melody" will be sung by the Fairies.
Captain Hook - Peter Pan's nemesis...the evil Pirate with a hook for a hand! This is a strong singing role with songs in many different styles and voices. The acting requires a sophisticated approach to find the characterization of a comic, but believable, villain.
Smee - Captain Hook's first mate. The chief comic relief in the show, with heavy comic acting and some singing. Strong physical comedy ability.
Cecco, Jurkes, Starkey, Noodler -Pirates on Hook's ship; all with distinct personalities, speaking parks, and solos.
